A bath salt recipe for sore muscles has to include Epsom salts! Epsom salt AKA magnesium sulfate is a naturally occurring chemical compound that is made of sulfur, magnesium and oxygen. It was originally founded in the suburb of Epsom in England, where it gets its name.

Epsom salts are great for helping relieve tense, aching, sore and cramping muscles. When you take a bath with Epsom salts and warm water, they dissolve to work their magic – soothing and relieving pain and headaches.

Epsom salts are useful for drawing nasty toxins out of your body. They are helpful for reducing bodily inflammation, they can reduce headaches, muscle tension and cramping, stress and more.

Although the name may cause confusion, Epsom salts are a totally different compound than regular table salt. Epsom salts are cheap and easy to find at your local grocery store. Epsom salts make the perfect ingredient for homemade bath salts for sore muscles, and you are sure to love the effects.

Lavender Essential Oil

Homemade lavender bath salts? Yes please! There are a heap of benefits of using lavender essential oil in your homemade bath salt recipe. It is personally my favourite essential oil.

The aroma of lavender essential oil is really nice for relaxing and unwinding while remaining alert and focused. It contains anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic and fungicidal properties which can help the skin in a variety of ways.

Lavender oil can be used to help in the healing of rashes, burns, bites and scars, and it can be really soothing for dry skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. Some people also like to use lavender oil for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and stretch marks.

Some other awesome benefits of lavender oil are the ability to ease muscle cramps and aches, inflammation, joint pain, anxiety, stress and sadness.

Lavender oil is a good choice of essential oil on all skin types. However, it has been known to cause dermatitis on those who have over used it. Those who have oily or acne prone skin types can really benefit from using a lavender oil as it can unclog your pores and kill bacteria living on your skin.

I love using lavender oil in this bath salt DIY lavender recipe as the aroma unwinds and relaxes me.
